Although kayak fishing may seem like a relatively simple sport, there are a lot of skills you need to master. In these classes Sean White, the NCKA 2008 Angler of the Year, will teach you the essential tools you will need to go after and land that big fish successfully…and do it safely

Saltwater 101

If you have completed FW101 and are ready to go to the next level this class is for you. We will spend 2 days on the coast covering the additional skills you will need to safely chase big fish on big blue.

Day 1 will start in the classroom going over important things you need to consider before hitting the salt. We will discuss equipment, safety, weather, and tides. In the afternoon we will spend several hours in the water putting that knowledge to use. We will start out learning to launch and land in small shorebreak. Once we are able to confidently go “outside” the sets we will learn how to stow and recover our gear on the water.

Day 2 is spent in pursuit of fish! We will launch through the surf and head out after rockfish and lingcod. Our experienced guides will show you everything you need to know to target these fish as well as handle, select, and subdue a “keeper”. Day 2 is wrapped up with a delicious shore lunch and social.

Past SW101 students have said:
